We are a team of 12 software engineers specializing in networking software. The team is self-organizing and can impact product requirements and decisions. As part of Akamai's Cloud Compute team, we enable customers to secure and isolate their resources and workloads on the Akamai Connected Cloud, by designing and implementing networking products such as Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), Cloud Firewall and VLAN.
This role provides an opportunity to make a significant impact on Akamai's growing cloud offerings, requiring a combination of management and leadership skills, system design, programming and debugging skills, an obsession with code quality, and independence. You must have a passion to lead a team, manage projects, get things done quickly and get them done right.
As a Software Engineer Senior Lead, you will be responsible for:
- Helping build out cloud platform functionality that sets up, manages, and protects networking in the cloud.
- Leading a local team, and coordinating with teams globally
- Working on new features or dealing with bugs from users
- Designing, implementing, reviewing, documenting, and testing high quality code in close collaboration with your team.
- Building the core software components in Go, but ready to work in other languages as needed.
To be successful in this role you will:
- Have experience managing and developing the team through hiring, training, coaching and mentoring.
- Have experience or an interest in developing in Python and/or Go
- Have solid skills in writing, testing and understanding complex computer software.
- Be experienced in technical design, product specifications reviews, projects and backlog planning.
- Have a track record in planning agile processes, collaborating with product and project managers.
