Sybase Database Administrator

For our partner in Germany, that supports both public and private banks, insurance companies, we are hiring Sybase Database Administrator.

- Operation of Sybase databases from version 15.7 as well as incident and problem management incl. systematic error analysis and problem solving.

- Analysing and eliminating faults and weak points (3rd level support), also together with other specialist departments and the manufacturer SAP

- Collaboration in projects and support with problems/customer advice

- Examining new or changed requirements with regard to their feasibility and complexity as well as the effects on existing or planned processes, systems, standards, guidelines, etc.

- Administration and setup of single systems as well as systems with Sybase Replication Server with focus on Linux (RHEL)

- Development & creation of Shell/SQL scripts for automation

- Execution and evaluation of performance tests or performance problems, eg. analysis of sp_sysmon

- Monitoring of databases, tick generation

- Backup and recovery

- Maintenance and updating of maintenance scripts

- Implementation and documentation of database upgrades

- Several years of professional experience as a Sybase database administrator

- Knowledge and experience with other database systems desirable (MS SQL, PostgreSQL, DB2, Oracle)

- Experience with Sybase databases from version 15.7 and up

- Experience with Shell/SQL scripts for automation

- Ansible know-how is an advantage

- Very good written and spoken English skills

- Fluent German language will be a plus

- Availability for on call once every 6 weeks(on-calls are paid additionally)
