We are seeking an experienced engineer with a strong background in Azure SQL Database Hyperscale, Databricks, and related Azure data services. This role combines hands-on development, DevOps automation, and administrative oversight to ensure high availability, performance, and scalability of enterprise data platforms.
You will be responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining solutions that leverage Azure SQL Hyperscale for OLTP/OLAP workloads and Databricks for big data analytics, while ensuring best practices in security, automation, and DevOps.
Design and implement highly scalable and performant solutions using Azure SQL Hyperscale and Databricks.
Develop stored procedures, views, data models, and ETL pipelines integrating SQL Hyperscale with Databricks notebooks/workflows.
Implement CI/CD pipelines for database code, schema migrations, and Databricks artifacts using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or equivalent tools.
Perform database administration tasks including capacity planning, performance tuning, indexing, query optimization, and monitoring for SQL Hyperscale.
Automate maintenance, backups, failover, scaling, and updates for Hyperscale databases using Infrastructure as Code .
Integrate Databricks and Hyperscale SQL in data pipelines (ADF pipelines) for batch and streaming data workflows.
Monitor platform health, troubleshoot performance issues, and implement alerts & dashboards via Azure Monitor, Log Analytics.
MUST
6+ years of hands-on experience in software/data engineering roles with exposure to data platforms.
Strong expertise in Azure SQL Database Hyperscale—administration, optimization, high availability, backup/restore, scaling.
Proficiency in Databricks (PySpark, Scala, SQL)—developing notebooks, jobs, cluster management, delta tables.
Solid SQL programming skills for query tuning, indexing strategies, complex joins, stored procedures.
Hands-on with DevOps practices for data platforms—CI/CD pipelines for database and Databricks code, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/ARM).
Familiarity with Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics pipelines for orchestration.
Experience integrating Databricks with Azure SQL Hyperscale, ADLS Gen2, Event Hubs/Kafka (optional).
Good understanding of security controls, access management, firewall, private endpoints in Azure SQL & Databricks.
Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills across data, compute, and networking layers in Azure.
