About the role

The Acquisition cluster in the Order department is part of Ecommerce. Armed with a mission to provide a world-class platform that helps bring quality traffic onto the Ocado Smart Platform (OSP), convert visitors into shoppers by fulfilling their needs and expectations, and build shopping habits that encourage customer retention, loyalty and engagement.

You will manage the performance and well-being of the team members, keeping them aligned and giving them sufficient autonomy to do their work. In collaboration with the product managers, you will ensure that the products and/or services are delivered with the expected level of quality, fulfilling the expectations created in the agreed-upon amount of time. You will report to a Senior Engineering Manager (SEM).

  • Manage upwards effectively, ensuring your Senior Engineering Manager and Engineering Director are informed of progress, celebrating team successes and making key risks visible.
  • Coach team members and create a healthy environment that facilitates high-performing teams and is aligned with Ocado Values and Ocado Technology Principles.
  • Responsible for the team's compliance with Ocado Technology engineering principles, and technical and departmental standards.

Key Experience:

  • Practical and recent experience as a Software Engineer individual contributor.
  • Good knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), Security and Quality.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience in Acquisition and Retention-related domains is beneficial.
  • Previous experience in a leadership role is beneficial but not essential.
