- Min. 5 years of experience in DevOps/SRE/Platform Engineering roles
- Proven experience leading technical teams, ideally in a growing or scaling environment
- Deep understanding of cloud platforms (preferably GCP) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, etc.)
- Strong background in infrastructure-as-code (i.e. Terraform), CI/CD (TeamCity, GitHub Actions), and observability (DataDog, Grafana, LGTM)
- Experience working with engineering teams across the full development lifecycle
- Excellent communication skills – you can explain complex ideas in simple terms and make a strong case for technical decisions.
It would be an additional plus if you have:
- Experience managing budgets or cost optimization in cloud environments
- Knowledge of security standards and DevSecOps practices
- Familiarity with platform product thinking and treating internal tools like products
- Previous involvement in company-wide infrastructure or DevOps transformations
Responsibilities
As a member of the team, you will be expected to:
- Define and lead the technical strategy for DevOps across the organization
- Manage, mentor, and grow a high-performing DevOps team - setting clear goals, supporting development, and removing roadblocks
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams to identify bottlenecks and deliver impactful solutions that enhance developer efficiency
- Oversee the DevOps budget - ensuring resources are allocated wisely and generate tangible value
- Drive improvements in system resilience, observability, and performance across all environments
As a Platform Team Lead, your responsibilities will include:
- Owning the roadmap and evolution of internal platforms and engineering tools
- Taking a hands-on approach when needed - from incident resolution and architecture design to CI/CD improvements
- Proactively identifying and eliminating friction in the software delivery process
- Providing clarity and structure in navigating complex technical or organizational challenges
- Balancing scalability with cost-efficiency and long-term sustainability
- Acting as a trusted technical advisor in cross-functional initiatives and architectural decisions
In your first month, you might:
- Define service level objectives (SLOs) for several mission-critical processes to establish performance and reliability baselines
- Spot quick-win opportunities to streamline deployments and reduce developer pain points
- Conduct an audit of cloud infrastructure spend and suggest areas for cost optimization
- Begin tracking and analyzing key DORA metrics - such as deployment frequency, lead time, mean time to recovery, and change failure rate
Within the first 6 months, you should:
- Develop and communicate a clear, strategic vision for the DevOps function
- Take end-to-end ownership of the DevOps stack - including infrastructure, tooling, and security
- Implement foundational changes to improve the developer experience and accelerate delivery
- Align engineering teams around shared standards and best practices
- Evolve the team’s structure and workflows to support both scale and innovation
- Establish the Platform team as a reliable, strategic partner across the organization
