About the Role
The Telematics team at Samsara focuses on building both the product and platform for vehicle telematics data. We provide the core telematics data platform used by other full-stack teams to power cloud solutions that improve fleet safety, efficiency, and sustainability. We also build end-user products, such as real-time vehicle reporting.
As a Senior Full-Stack Engineer on the Telematics team, you will lead the design and development of products and abstractions based on vehicle telematics data. You will drive technical discussions, identify platform gaps, influence the roadmap, and collaborate with other full-stack teams on design decisions and their downstream implications. While this role is backend-leaning due to the team's ownership of core object models, it involves both web and mobile development.
This is a remote position open to candidates in the UK and Poland.

Responsibilities
- Lead technical discussions to identify gaps in the telematics data platform and influence roadmap by setting direction and recommending solutions.
- Collaborate with other engineering teams on design decisions and understand downstream implications for a seamless customer experience.
- Ship features used by customers and iterate based on their feedback.
- Deliver full-stack features across front-end, back-end, and mobile using technologies like GoLang, GraphQL, Typescript, React, and ReactNative (direct experience not required).
- Maintain production systems and provide operational support for owned team systems.

Minimum Requirements
- Demonstrated expertise in establishing data models and contracts in large organizations.
- 8+ years of experience designing and building products within a skilled software engineering team.
- Proven track record of leading the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of distributed, highly scalable software systems.
- Experience mentoring engineers and role-modeling excellent engineering practices in a technical lead capacity.
- End-to-end ownership experience for product and feature designs, development, and delivery of large-scale, long-running projects.
- Proactive growth mindset with a drive to improve the status quo.

- B.S. in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
