R&D Viessmann Climate Solutions PL

We are looking for a PCB Designer that will be responsible for the design and layout of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), which are the core of electronic devices. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, precision, and creativity to ensure electronic circuits function correctly and can be manufactured efficiently.

Your responsibilities:

PCB Layout Design

  • Create PCB layouts based on schematics, mechanical specifications, and design guidelines.
  • Place and route components with attention to signal integrity, EMC, thermal management, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Define layer stack-ups, trace widths, clearances, and vias.

Design Review and Optimization

  • Perform DRC, ERC, and DfM checks to ensure design quality and manufacturability.
  • Optimize layouts for cost, performance, size, and reliability.
  • Analyze Signal and Power Integrity (SI/PI) using simulation tools.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with hardware engineers to align schematics and layout requirements.
  • Cooperate with mechanical designers on enclosure integration and space constraints.
  • Liaise with manufacturing partners to ensure smooth production and clarify technical details.
  • Actively participate in design reviews.

Documentation and Data Management

  • Prepare complete manufacturing data (Gerber files, drill files, pick-and-place data, IPC netlists).
  • Maintain component libraries and internal design guidelines.
  • Manage design data in the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Communication Technology, Mechatronics or a related field.
  • Several years of experience in PCB design, ideally in the Power Electronics area.
  • Profound knowledge of PCB design software (preferably PadsDesigner).
  • Strong knowledge of analog and digital circuits.
  • Understanding of Signal Integrity and Power Integrity principles.
  • Experience with EMC-compliant PCB design.
  • Familiarity with PCB manufacturing and assembly processes (DfM/DfA)
  • Knowledge of relevant standards (e.g., IPC).
  • Understanding of HV-related design constraints.
