Senior Database Migration Specialist

• Proven experience with MS SQL Server 2017/2019/2022.
• Proficiency in SSMS, T-SQL scripting, SQL Agent job scheduling.
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server backup/restore, HA/DR (Always On, clustering).
• Experience with Dell PowerProtect Data Manager and Data Domain.
• Solid understanding of AD integration and VMware vSphere.
• Strong project planning, execution, and reporting skills.
• Experience with backup validation, restore testing, and corruption recovery (nice to have).
• Familiarity with change management in enterprise environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, methodical problem-solving, sense of ownership.
• Professional attitude and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead migration of ~500 MS SQL Server instances to Dell PowerProtect Data Manager (PPDM) with Dell Data Domain.
• Plan, document, and execute large-scale database migrations (1000+ databases) with minimal downtime.
• Perform backup/restore operations, backup validation, and restore testing.
• Manage SQL Server environments: Always On Availability Groups, Failover Cluster Instances, Agent jobs, and DBCC consistency checks.
• Configure and maintain PPDM application agent integration with SQL Server.
• Manage Active Directory service accounts and integration.
• Operate within VMware vSphere environments.
• Conduct business impact analysis, risk assessment, and risk identification.
• Ensure compliance with enterprise change management processes (e.g., BMC Helix).
• Report on project progress, migration status, and issues to stakeholders.
• Collaborate effectively with international and cross-functional teams.
• Work flexible hours (evenings/weekends) during migration windows.
