Agentic AI Solutions Engineer (DevOps)

Job Description

Position Overview

The AI Platform Engineer plays a critical role in the IT Strategy function at SUSE. Reporting to the Director of IT Strategy, this role will lead the technical foundation of the newly established "Agent Factory." This role focus is to industrialize our AI infrastructure, moving from experimental Proofs of Concept to a scalable, enterprise-grade ecosystem.

The IT estate at SUSE serves to ensure that our business can thrive. As we transition to becoming an "Intelligent Value Engine," we are shifting focus to an AI-augmented workforce. This role will engineer the underlying platforms that allow the business to deploy "High-Impact AI Agents" securely and efficiently. The AI Platform Engineer will design vendor-agnostic architecture patterns, ensure robust monitoring, and implement the "Global Kill Switch" safety controls required for a responsible agentic workforce.

Responsibilities

Agentic Solutions & Infrastructure

• Responsible for the hands-on building, development, and solutioning of new AI Agents using a variety of AI agent frameworks and platforms (e.g., low-code/no-code platforms, cloud-based AI services, or custom development environments).
• Design and maintain the end-to-end infrastructure for the "Agent Factory," focusing on scalability and modularity.
• Manage and optimize the technical environments for agentic solutions.
• Develop vendor-agnostic architecture patterns and infrastructure requirements to support the standardized inputs and outputs of agent building blocks.
• Implement "building block" architecture standards to ensure agents are reusable assets rather than standalone solutions.
• Populate and maintain the knowledge base with learnings from use cases to support the wider "Agent Mesh",.
• Work in partnership with our IT Platform Engineering Team to ensure seamless platform integration and alignment.
• Work in partnership with our Cybersecurity and Privacy Team to technically implement the governance framework and security baselines.

Operational Excellence & Observability

• Define and implement monitoring and observability standards for all live AI agents.
• Design the operational support model for the agentic ecosystem, ensuring performance and scalability requirements are met.
• Maintain the "Global Kill Switch" capability, allowing for the centralized neutralization of modular components if anomalous behavior is detected.
• Collaborate with all IT departments and teams on back-end integrations and consulting services where required (e.g. business applications, data operations, cybersecurity and privacy, IT platforms, service management, etc.).

Governance & Security Implementation

• Work with the Security & Governance Lead to technically implement the governance framework and security baselines.
• Ensure that platform setups adhere to cost and commercial liability controls, including token consumption tracking and "showback" reporting,.
• Enforce "Policy-as-Code" guardrails to automate compliance checks for agent deployments.

Collaboration & Innovation

• Collaborate with the AI Solutions Engineer to ensure the platform supports new integration patterns.
• Support the IT Strategy team in transitioning from a consulting function to a primary project owner for AI initiatives.

Technical Experience & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field would be useful - not mandatory..
• Proven experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or Cloud Infrastructure.
• Experience with N8N, Google Gemini Enterprise, or similar agentic platforms is highly desirable.
• Experience managing low-code/no-code platforms and AI tooling.
• Experience with API integrations, monitoring tools, and defining infrastructure requirements.
• Experience with Linux, k8s & scripting is a plus. Knowledge of vector databases, RAG architectures and similar technologies, platforms and infrastructure skills.
• Knowledge of Vector Databases, RAG architectures & LLM Evaluation frameworks is a plus.
