About The Opportunity
Hi, I'm Oussama Salimi, the Engineering Manager at N26, and I am looking for a Backend Engineer to join the Investments team here at N26.

In This Role, You Will:
- Write high-quality, performant code (primarily Kotlin) and navigate the codebase fluently.
- Handle deployment, bug fixing, and incident handling with a high level of independence, taking features from concept to production.
- Act as a sparring partner for Product Managers during Product Discovery, ensuring technical decisions support the user experience.
- Question the status quo by asking "why are we building this?" and "is there a simpler way?"
- Identify knowledge gaps and technical problems, taking active ownership to address them without waiting to be told.
- Share your learnings from GSDD projects with the wider team, turning individual curiosity into collective knowledge.
- There will be a lot more too, this is a role that will require a lot of flexibility.

What you need to be successful:
- Proven experience as a Software Engineer taking features from concept to production with minimal supervision.
- A track record of thriving in dynamic environments where requirements evolve rapidly.
- A growth mindset: you treat feedback as a tool for engineering excellence and have a specific plan for your own learning.
- An "evidence over opinion" approach: you couple every critique of a problem with a practical proposal for its solution.
Skills:
- Strong proficiency in backend development, with Kotlin being our default for new services.
- Experience working with Distributed Microservices and Event-Driven Architecture (Kafka).
- Good understanding of cloud infrastructure and containerization (AWS, Kubernetes, and Docker).
- Experience with observability and monitoring tools (Datadog, ELK/OpenSearch).
- Resilience and proactive communication: you know how to navigate unresponsive stakeholders and unblock yourself.
- Constructive dissatisfaction: you are a "System Improver" who proactively fixes broken processes.
