Team / division overview
In Solution & Data Architecture we focus on shaping architecture relevant patterns and guidelines and support delivery teams implementing their solutions aligned to these standards. We closely work together with Domain Architects, Security SMEs, Data SMEs and Delivery Teams to assure overall strategic and policy adherence of any solution we deliver into the organization. As such the team supports the full delivery from modelling solutions for data in transit, at rest, consuming data and building services and front ends on top of data. We provide guidance and governance during implementation and help teams implement the solution designs. On top, the data architecture team is also responsible for maintaining the organization’s Enterprise Data Model (EDM) and will help martialize the logical model into physical models on data management systems or in any other structure or contract.
Your responsibilities
As a Data Architect you will: * Break down functional and non-functional requirements into individual data related building blocks, the most appropriate data model, data ingest strategy and data consumption strategies. * Work with and coach / help data engineers to put the data model and ingest / consumption patterns to life and * Collaborate with Domain Architects and fellow Solution and Data architects to work out strategic architecture decision records, patterns, or even code to common, recurring problems or to support delivery of individual data strategies * Support and contribute to the overall solution design with Solution Architects to defend the design before any Design or Security Council before being implemented * Maintain the Enterprise Data Model (EDM) and help materialize into physical models where required. * Assess and R&D new technologies and derive usage patterns for the broader organization to adopt and keeping the technology estate up to date and keep improving the overall data architecture in DWS.

- Degree in Computer Science or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering, and architecture
- Prior experience in working in the financial industry or specifically in Asset Management is a big plus
- Strong data modelling skills, e.g. 0NF, 3NF, Star, Snowflake, DV 2.0 and ability to select the appropriate model or combination of modelling methodologies to meeting functional and non-functional requirements
- Very good understanding of individual data architecture aspects, such as batching, streaming, parallel ingest, and event driven architectures.
- Very good understanding of traditional RDBMS such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, proficiency in Snowflake is a big plus
- Strategic thinking and planning, laying out common solutions for recurring problems (patterns. opinionated decision trees, design decisions)
- Keen to work with new technologies to derive opportunities for enhancing the overall data architecture
- Good understanding and experience in deploying workloads to the cloud, preferably GCP
- Experience in designing and building or integrating with ABAC or RBAC controls or systems (IAM)
- Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, optimise workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs.
