What You'll Do
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Formstack team, you'll help build, maintain, and operate the Formstack platform. Your work directly impacts product quality, engineering velocity, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction.
- Design, develop, test, and deploy production-quality software across multiple Formstack applications and shared platform services
- Contribute across frontend and backend codebases, applying strong engineering fundamentals without requiring deep specialization in a single application
- Design and implement improvements that improve reliability, security, maintainability, and engineering velocity
- Own and improve development workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment automation
- Maintain and modernize application dependencies and runtime environments to keep products secure and performant
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve complex production issues spanning multiple products and services
- Partner with Platform Engineering, Product, and Customer Support to deliver reliable, secure customer experiences
- Participate in architecture discussions, technical design reviews, and engineering planning
- Mentor other engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing
- Leverage AI-powered development tools to improve productivity, quality, and delivery velocity
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule for production support

What We're Looking For
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience developing and supporting customer-facing SaaS applications
- Strong full-stack development experience with modern web technologies
- Experience working across multiple products or large distributed applications
- Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including GitHub workflows, automated testing, and CI/CD
- Experience deploying and supporting applications on AWS or similar cloud platforms
- Experience maintaining application dependencies, framework upgrades, and security vulnerability remediation
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex production issues across application code and distributed systems
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to participate in a rotating on-call schedule
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
Bonus Points
- Experience with React, JavaScript/TypeScript, PHP, Laravel, Java, and Node.js
- Experience improving GitHub Actions, CI/CD pipelines, or deployment automation
- Experience with Docker or containerized applications
- Experience with observability platforms such as Datadog, Sumo Logic, CloudWatch, or Sentry
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale SaaS platforms
