Job Summary

We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the team building next-generation distribution capabilities for our index products. You'll be delivering index data to the global financial community across multiple channels including APIs, cloud data platforms, file-based delivery, and AI-native protocols. Reliability, security, and data quality are non-negotiable as we build out scalable, cloud-native infrastructure.

The ideal candidate is a self-sufficient, technically excellent engineer who can lead through architectural clarity, thorough code review, and hands-on delivery. You combine strong expertise in system design, data modelling, and debugging with genuine passion for how AI tooling is redefining software engineering. This is an individual contributor role where you will lead through the quality of your thinking and your engineering standards.

AI-First Engineering

This team operates with an AI-first approach. We expect hands-on experience with AI development tooling: terminal-based agents, AI-augmented IDEs, and automated workflows. You are ultimately accountable for production quality, security, and correctness. This means owning infrastructure review, security validation, system observability, and operational guardrails.

What You'll Do

  • Design, build, and scale cloud-native distribution infrastructure with high resilience and performance requirements.
  • Own system design and data modelling for sophisticated, multi-schema relational databases serving dynamic data workloads.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure as code, ensuring environments are reproducible, version-controlled, and secure.
  • Design and implement test strategies including integration, contract, and end-to-end validation.
  • Build secure, well-documented APIs and data delivery services for institutional financial clients.
  • Lead technical direction through architectural guidance, code review, and pairing.
  • Partner with product, operations, and client-facing teams to translate requirements into robust technical solutions.

LSEG offers a range of tailored benefits and support, including healthcare, retirement planning, paid volunteering days and wellbeing initiatives. We foster a culture of engineering excellence, solving real-world problems with purpose and ambition. You will be part of a collaborative and creative culture where we encourage new ideas. We are committed to sustainability across our global business and we are proud to partner with our customers to help them meet their sustainability objectives. Location: London (Hybrid, 3 days/week in office).

Experience We Value

  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong expertise in system design, distributed systems, and relational data modelling.
  • Solid experience building and operating cloud-native applications on AWS.
  • Ability to write and maintain infrastructure as code (Terraform or equivalent).
  • Experience designing test strategies at multiple levels of the testing pyramid.
  • Proficiency with AI development tooling and a clear understanding of how to use AI to accelerate delivery while maintaining quality.
  • Strong debugging skills across distributed systems.
  • Basic understanding of financial services or capital markets.
  • Effective collaboration and the ability to communicate technical decisions to non-technical audiences.
