We are seeking a QA Engineer to join a software engineering team developing computational software for our client in the global medical technology sector. The product handles complex 3D geometry and numerical data to support digital manufacturing workflows. You will ensure that algorithms generate correct, stable, and accurate results through data-level testing of computational outputs, rather than UI testing.
Design and run verification strategies for computational, geometric and numerical algorithms (3D geometry, meshes, point clouds, numerical pipelines).
• Validate results against reference data, analytical solutions, golden datasets and defined tolerances. • Check geometric correctness and consistency: topology, watertightness, self-intersections, orientation, dimensional accuracy. • Assess numerical stability, precision loss, sensitivity to input variation, and behaviour on boundary and degenerate cases. • Build and maintain Python-based automation for data preparation, comparison, metric calculation and regression testing of algorithm output. • Create and curate test datasets, including edge cases and synthetic data. • Write verification and validation documentation according to the client's QMS and regulatory guidelines: test plans, test cases and protocols, V&V reports, test evidence and requirements traceability. • Document defects and deviations with clear root-cause analysis. Work with algorithm developers to troubleshoot them. • Take part in requirements reviews and help define measurable acceptance criteria for algorithm behaviour. • Integrate automated validation into CI pipelines.4+ years in software QA or test engineering. A meaningful part of that must be spent testing computational, numerical, geometric, scientific, imaging or simulation software.
• Hands-on testing experience in at least one of these areas:
• CAD / CAM / CAE
• 3D geometry, mesh or point-cloud processing
• Image or signal processing (DSP)
• Simulation or scientific computing
• Other algorithm-intensive software
• Proven experience validating numerical and geometric data quality: accuracy and tolerances, geometric correctness, numerical stability, edge cases, and comparison against expected or reference data.
• Experience automating data-level validation of computational results, rather than mainly UI testing.
• Strong Python scripting skills (e.g. NumPy, SciPy, pandas, pytest). Experience with 3D libraries such as trimesh, Open3D, VTK or PyVista is a plus.
• Ability to write clear, structured V&V documentation with full traceability.
• Strong analytical, mathematical and troubleshooting skills.
• Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or a related field.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.
Experience with 3D manufacturing, additive manufacturing (3D printing), computational geometry or digital manufacturing software.
• Experience with large or complex 3D or numerical datasets (STL, OBJ, PLY, point clouds, CT/scan data).
• Experience in a regulated or quality-controlled environment (ISO 13485, IEC 62304, FDA 21 CFR Part 820, ISO 14971).
• Familiarity with C++ codebases, enough to read algorithm code and discuss it with developers.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps) and test management tools (Jira/Xray, Polarion, TestRail).
