Alfa Financial Software – the provider of the award-winning Alfa Systems – has selected the Tricity area as the home for its next international technology hub.
Join Alfa Financial Software, a leading provider of software solutions for the asset finance industry, as they continue to expand their Product Engineering group, currently comprising around 150 people. They're looking for a Java Software Engineering Team Lead to lead a growing team of Java software engineers in the EMEA region.
What you’ll do:
- Lead a team of 5-7 engineers to design, develop and maintain new features for our flagship product - Alfa Systems
- Mentor and guide engineers in the team, fostering a culture of continuous learning to develop the team’s delivery capability
- Lead by example, setting high standards for code quality and work ethic, contributing hands on to delivery
- Collaborate with the product owner, architects and other stakeholders to translate client’s business requirements into robust, incremental value-adding deliverables
- Facilitate regular team meetings and retrospectives to set clear goals for the team and challenge the team to take the best next steps
- Foster team ownership over individual contributions
- Ensure excellent communication between the team and stakeholders
- Responsible for instilling our values and culture to the members of the team and fostering connections with existing engineering hubs in London and Lisbon
- Grow the great ideas you and your team come up with
- Create a positive impact on our colleagues, clients, and the communities our organization touches
Where you’ll work:
- Hybrid model: 2–3 days remote, rest from our coworking space at Olivia Centre, Gdańsk
- You'll work closely with teams across UK, Europe, North America
- Quarterly company events in EMEA (travel required 4x/year – London, Europe, etc.)

- Proven experience leading a software engineering team in an Agile environment
- Strong Java development experience and ability to contribute hands-on
- Natural leadership skills — able to inspire, empower, and guide a team
- Comfortable working closely with product owners, architects, and stakeholders
- A business-oriented mindset — you see the big picture behind the code
- Fluent in English (B2+)
- Passionate about fostering an inclusive, feedback-driven culture
Tech stack:
- Java 11 and 17 for the fundamentals
- Eclipse or IntelliJ for development
- Maven for building
- Google Guice for DI
- JUnit & Mockito for open box testing
- Selenium for closed box testing
- Docker, Kubernetes & Cloud infrastructure (e.g. AWS) for deployment
- Jenkins for CI
- GraphQL, JAX-RS, JMS, JAX-WS for APIs
- Postgres with Hibernate for Persistence
