Job Description

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join an international team of developers on the SUSE Multi-Linux Manager product team.

SUSE Multi-Linux Manager is an open-source solution for managing multiple Linux distributions, anywhere and at any scale, used by hundreds of organizations and users around the world.

Focus Areas

In this role, you will create and ship code for SUSE Multi-Linux Manager and Uyuni (its upstream project).

Preferred Experience & Skills

We are looking for passionate engineers who are motivated to make an impact for their team and our customers.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working as a Software Engineer:

  • Solid software engineering skills regarding algorithms, programming paradigms and distributed systems.
  • Very good knowledge of Go, its ecosystem (build tools, libraries, debugging techniques) and best practices.
  • Advanced experience building, deploying and debugging containers (docker/podman or Kubernetes)
  • Good understanding of the Linux operating system, differences between distributions and how to manage them.
  • Familiarity with relational databases and schema design, ideally with PostgreSQL.
  • Giving and receiving code reviews with the ability to knowledgeably discuss technical alternatives in complex systems.
  • Previous participation in open-source communities, please show us your past contributions.
  • Verbal and written proficiency in English language.

The following topics would be an advantage:

  • Some familiarity with front-end technologies and frameworks, ideally React and TypeScript.
  • Some familiarity with Java, its ecosystem (build tools, libraries, debugging techniques) and best practices.
