DevOps Engineer Salary in Poland in 2025

The term DevOps originated from the combination of the English words "development" and "operations". In practice, this means that a specialist in this role combines duties related to software development processes and IT infrastructure management. A DevOps specialist is expected to have a very broad range of knowledge and skills.
As data from the IT Community Survey 2025 shows, their key daily tasks include:
- coding (e.g., scripts, infrastructure as code – 93.7%),
- process automation (93.1%),
- infrastructure/environment monitoring and analysis (84.6%),
- IT infrastructure maintenance (76.6%),
- as well as technical support, release and environment management, and ensuring security.
Duties also often include selecting optimal technological solutions, configuring project environments, and continuously improving implemented processes.
The DevOps career path is rarely the first step in IT. It usually requires prior experience in at least one IT area (e.g., system administration, programming) and a willingness to develop in many other fields. Understanding the role of automation throughout the software development lifecycle and infrastructure management is crucial. Essential skills include programming/scripting, knowledge of operating systems, containerization and orchestration tools, cloud solutions, as well as the basics of cybersecurity and server administration.
DevOps in the Polish IT Arena in 2025
Among respondents of the IT Community Survey 2025, the category "IT Administrator / DevOps" constitutes 9.9% of all IT specialists, showing a slight increase compared to previous years and confirming the stable position of this specialization.
Regarding the experience structure within this group:
- Juniors constitute 12.9%
- Mid / Regular Specialists are the largest group – 40.4%
- Seniors are 35.4%
- Leadership roles (Tech Lead / Team Lead) are 8.9%
This also translates into years of experience – the average experience for Juniors is 2.8 years, for Mid specialists it is 6.6 years, for Seniors 13.6 years, and for Tech/Team Leads 14.1 years. This shows that DevOps is often a path for individuals with an already established position in the industry.
DevOps/Admin specialists most often work in large organizations. As many as 35.9% are employed in companies with over 5,000 employees, and another 28% in enterprises employing 501-5,000 people. Small companies (up to 50 employees) employ only 8.9% of specialists in this group.
A huge gender disproportion has consistently been maintained for years – men constitute 96% of DevOps/Admin specialists. This may result from the fact that this position often requires many years of technical experience, and women have relatively recently started entering more technical roles in IT on a larger scale.
It is also worth noting that the work of a DevOps specialist is often highly dynamic – as many as 69.1% of specialists in this group handle several projects simultaneously (this data combines the DevOps and Admin specializations).
Top Technologies in DevOps Work
A DevOps specialist must navigate a wide spectrum of technologies efficiently. Let's look at which ones dominate in 2025:
Programming and Scripting Languages
The unquestioned leader remains Python, used by 85.8% of DevOps specialists. Its versatility and rich library ecosystem perfectly align with the needs of automation and infrastructure management. In the following positions are SQL (29.1%) and Bash/PowerShell (24.3%), essential for working with databases and operating systems. Java (14.9%), JavaScript (14.9%), and Go (14.2%) are also increasingly appearing.
Virtualization and Containerization
The absolute standard is Docker, used by 86.8% of respondents. Far behind are VMware (26.4%), VirtualBox (13.2%), Hyper-V (12.1%), and Proxmox (10.9%). Interestingly, nearly 10% declare that they do not use these types of tools.
Infrastructure Solutions
Cloud technologies are used by the vast majority (81.7%) of DevOps specialists. However, On-premise solutions still play a significant role (53.1%). Serverless architectures (25.7%), as well as traditional dedicated servers (20.6%), are becoming increasingly popular.
Container Orchestration
Here Kubernetes dominates, used by 76% of specialists. However, it is worth noting that as many as 18.9% of DevOps specialists do not use orchestration tools. Other, less frequently used options are Rancher (13.1%) and Docker Swarm (5.7%).
DevOps Earnings in 2025
The broad range of responsibilities and required skills translates into attractive remuneration, which, however, differs significantly depending on the form of employment, experience, and the specific position within the DevOps/Admin specialization. The following data comes from the IT Community Survey 2025.
Note: For an employment contract (UoP), mandate contract (UZ), and contract for specific work (UD), the amounts provided are net amounts ("take-home pay"). In the case of a B2B contract, these are net amounts on the invoice.
DevOps Earnings - All Experience Levels
- Employment Contract (Average) - 11,920 PLN
- Employment Contract (Median) - 11,300 PLN
- B2B Contract (Average) - 25,927 PLN
- B2B Contract (Median) - 25,000 PLN
DevOps Earnings vs. Experience Level (Seniority)
The key factor influencing salary level is the level of experience. Below are the earnings (average and median) for the DevOps position broken down by junior, mid, and senior levels in 2025:
Junior DevOps:
- UoP: Average 5,969 PLN / Median 6,000 PLN
- B2B: Average 10,735 PLN / Median 10,000 PLN
Mid/Regular DevOps:
- UoP: Average 9,445 PLN / Median 9,000 PLN
- B2B: Average 19,364 PLN / Median 18,000 PLN
Senior DevOps:
- UoP: Average 13,466 PLN / Median 12,500 PLN
- B2B: Average 29,540 PLN / Median 28,000 PLN
The data clearly shows that increased experience is associated with a significant increase in remuneration, especially on a B2B contract, where seniors can expect earnings close to 30,000 PLN net on the invoice. The difference between UoP and B2B is significant at every seniority level.
